Behold: take a motorola Razr and replace your netbooks harddrive. Wire it to an RFID reader with a deadmans switch so that if it leaves your immediate proximity->the Razr dials E911.
GPS comes in to play and your laptop thief gets to explain to pissed off cop with gun why there seems to be a 911 call coming from the trunk of his car.
